Wedding Day Turns Wedding Weekend

Who said that your wedding celebration had to be limited to one day? Don’t get us wrong, the ceremony and reception are great, but why not give the guest more options? More and More brides and grooms are extending their big days to be a full weekend or even multi-day events! It’s kind of a win win for all sides! The Bride and and Groom get to spend extra time with their loved ones, and the guests get to turn their little getaway into a full vacation!

Main Plaza just outside Gruene, Tx
Gruene Texas, just outside of New Braunfels Texas is a great wedding destination.

Now, while we understand the planning of this could get difficult, we have taken it upon ourselves to map out a fun weekend full of activities and events for you and your guests. What would something like this look like for a small town like Gruene, Texas one may ask? Well, stick around and find out…

With the assumption that the wedding is on a Saturday, let’s say guests start rolling into town on Thursday afternoon. While the Gruene Mansion Inn is a prime location for our original open-air Hill Country wedding chapel, places like Prince Solms Inn and the Faust Hotel give your guest the option to stay in New Braunfels, Texas, which is another great town just up the road!

Mornings call for one thing… coffee! 2Rivers, KoraKora, and Gruene Coffee are a few go to’s for us here in this historic little town. Now on to breakfast. Many to choose from but allow us to point you to Buttermilk Cafe or Fork and Spoon. These are real winners.

Now that we covered the morning basics, it’s time to hit the town! Gruene is such a historic landmark, there is something for everyone! It’s the perfect place for your guests to spend the day! Maybe do a little bit of retail therapy? Grab a drink at Gruene grove, then catch some live country music at Gruene Hall. For the more outdoorsy type, you can splash into the Guadalupe or Comal rivers. There’s also Landa Park and Hinman Island Park. Enjoy a hike up Panther Canyon or stroll the walking trails around Landa Lake.

As the sun starts to set, I’m sure there is food on the brain! There are so many options very close by. Some of our favorites are Mozie’s, Gruene River Grill, and Gruene Door!

So, a full day of food and fun in the sun takes us to Saturday  - The big day! Your guests will look on as you and your groom share your vowels in a one-of-a-kind historic chapel. Then party in the open-air pavilion, nestled right into the Texas Hill Country.  Then get some rest because the fun, ain’t over yet!

After a night all your guests will remember, we’re left with one thing, and one thing only… Brunch! Let’s be honest, Sunday is meant for brunching so having options like Macadoos, Downtowner, and Krause’s allow not just the wedding party, but the guests to really experience the charm of these classic southern towns! After you’re nice and full, take a stroll around Downtown New Braunfels and check out some of the amazing antique shops that the town has. Don’t forget to keep your phone on you, as there are plaques around town that have QR codes to learn some historical points as well as fun little history lessons.

And there you have it. Whether your party is coming from the other side of Texas or just down the road, there is no place like the Texas Hill Country. Bring your wedding here and turn your wedding day in a fun-filled weekend!
